The Custom Cushion Company is owned by The Sewing Project, based on the Sunshine Coast in Queensland.
We have been making custom cushions for over 10 years and offer a huge range of fabrics supplied by Australia’s leading manufacturers.
We understand which fabrics and foams are best for every situation, be it indoors, outdoors or on a covered deck or patio – and we have our own on-site workroom.

Frequently Asked Questions
Our lead time for completion for most jobs is 2 to 4 weeks. This may be longer for big jobs, and if this is the case we will advise you accordingly.
If you think your foam is fine, then you can just order the covers. We will still need you to follow the order system and submit the measurements, fabric etc. Shipping is cheaper for covers only.
Please note that it’s your responsibility to ensure you provide the correct dimensions when ordering your covers.
If your cushions are regularly exposed to rain or spray, or have direct sunlight every day, then they are ‘outdoor’ cushions. We advise customers not to order indoor cushions for outdoor settings.
We don’t supply foam only. The shipping costs are too high as a proportion of the total order value. For foam only we recommend contacting your local foam supplier.
Part of our order process allows you to add ties to your cushion covers. All our cushion covers are supplied with zips and are included in your quote.
Because of the customised nature of our business, we require a 50% (minimum) payment to confirm an order. The balance is due prior to shipment – we’ll contact you when your order is ready to ship. Products do not leave our warehouse until full payment is received.
Yes, we do. Shipping is calculated as part of your quote.
Shipping costs – nationwide rates based on road freight - 3 - 5 days depending on destination.
- Foam and covers – shipping is calculated once you have completed cushion order, the shipping is based on a per order calculation
- Scatter cushions with soft fill - flat rate of $20 each + GST
Please Note: If you order the infill from us, the shipping ends up costing you more. Alternatively you can order the 'cover/s only' and save on shipping.
Infills are readily available for you to purchase at most local stores, such as Big W or KMart etc.
We're than happy for you to purchase infill from us, but it does increase your shipping costs. 🙂
- No foam - Covers only - $60 + GST flat rate or shipping is included if the order value is greater than $1500.
We offer a 3 year warranty on our workmanship. Cushions are subject to constant and sometimes harsh treatment, including pets, children and general wear and tear. Our fabric manufacturers have publicised warranties on all their products, and we work with the manufacturer in the event of a claim.
We will only consider a warranty claim once we have received the product back at our workshop.

CCC offers basic and simple cushion shapes. If you have asymmetric, bespoke or unusual shaped cushions, please contact The Sewing Project at info@thesewingproject.com.au
Applying wadding to foam gives cushions softer corners and a better fit for the covers. It also reduces 'bagging' on larger or curved cushions. We add wadding to our cushions unless you ask us not to.
Piping is labour intensive and adds significant cost to your cushions. It’s also a personal choice and not required for long lasting quality cushion covers.

How Our Process Works
1. Select Indoor or Outdoor
Only some fabrics are made to cope with our harsh Australian climate. By selecting ‘Indoor’ or ‘Outdoor’ – we’ll ensure you get the right fabric and foam.
2. Sometimes you just need the covers
Other times you need the foam and/or inserts to complete the job – you decide.
3. Select your fabric
This is the fun part and we have an amazing choice of fabrics that are easy to navigate with our colour/style/manufacturer filters
4. Select the shape you need
Whether you want ties or piping. It’s really important to measure the dimensions correctly!
5. You can order as many cushions
You can order as many cushions and shapes as you want, just keep adding to cart.
6. Place your order
Place your order and we’ll send you an order confirmation email. At this point you need to pay 50% of the order value.
7. When your cushions are ready we’ll let you know.
Once you pay the balance we’ll ship and send you a tracking number.
